News Alert
Spin and win for Choquette
It's not often that one hears about a come-from-behind
thumping, but that's exactly what
Jeff Choquette
did on Sunday night.
Choquette, ranked tenth on the DSM 75, picked up his
second win of the New Smyrna Speedway World Series of
Asphalt, holding off
Tim Russell
for the second evening in a row. He started fourth and
passed Justin Drawdy for the lead before the first
caution flag of the 30-lap race.
With eight laps to go, Choquette was spun in an incident
with lapped car Nevin Gainey. The Palm Beach, Fla.
prospect lined back as up as the leader and undermined
right front damage to collect his fourth late model
victory of 2008.
Russell, a DSM 75 prospect from Longwood, Fla., finished
second. Drawdy, Louis Mechalides, and
Ryan Sieg
completed the top-five.
Derrick Kelley took the win in the 25-lap Limited Late
Model event, pacing the entire race. J.R. McMichael,
Drew Brannon,
and Jessica Murphy finished second through fourth.
Chad Akins,
who captured the previous two nightly wins in the
Limited division, was moved out of the way by Murphy on
lap five. He finished fifth.
The Tour-type Modifieds and the Crate Late Models had
the night off but will return tomorrow.
Night #4 action kicks off tomorrow at 7:30 pm EDT.
